A GARGRAVE man will give a talk about his volunteer work in Israel and the West Bank.
Earlier this year, Gargrave resident Dave Stannard was there taking part in a World Council of Churches project called EAPPI (Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel).
He was living and working with a team of volunteers from all over the world.
His task was to monitor and report human rights violations, and to provide a protective presence for people who suffer as a consequence.
He will be talking about this work at an event organised by Gargrave and Malhamdale Community Library.
This illustrated talk will be held at Gargrave Village Hall at 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 20.
Mr Stannard said: “My work brought me into direct contact with Palestinian people, men and women crossing checkpoints to work or to pray in Jerusalem, children passing soldiers to get to school and families whose East Jerusalem homes were being demolished.”
