SETTLE College is celebrating after its A Level results were above the national average.
More than 29 per cent of students achieved either A star or A grades, while 92 per cent of leavers achieved the grades needed for their first choice universities.
An impressive 36 per cent achieved the results needed to go to one of the top 'Russell Group' universities, while student, Charlotte Green, is off to study biochemistry at Oxford with her four A stars.
A college spokesman said: "We recently welcomed our new Year 12 with an intensive induction day that was supported by Northumbria University. We were delighted to welcome new members to our community from other local schools."
This year's sixth form committee is now busy planning events in school to support its chosen charities. It will include a Macmillan coffee morning bake sale, and a 'wear what you want' day for Children in Need. There will also be a Halloween fancy dress event, and a winter ball in December.
