A DEFUNCT fire station has been transformed into a dance and fitness centre with the help and "hard graft" of supporters.

They got stuck into painting and decorating Fire House Studios in Coach Street, Skipton, to help professional dancers Howard and Heather Bullock's dream come true.

Friends, Kat White and Kathie Tiffany leant their expertise, Kat designing the studio's "fantastic" logo and photographer, Kathie, producing the publicity shots.

Now the couple have a "place of their own," rather than using other venues, said Heather who has been running fitness classes for mums at Gargrave primary school.

"We have been overwhelmed by all the support since announcing our find in this wonderful space," said Howard.

They became aware of the old fire station in spring 2017 and took on the first floor, refurbishing it into a dance and fitness studio.

They opened officially in August Howard changing his school's name to Fire House Dance and Heather launching Siren Fitness, a lady's no fad fitness service.

He has expanded on the dance styles he offers and runs classes in Salsa, Street Dance and Freestyle with plans to re-start the pre-school dance classes for children aged 18months.

And Heather is running new fitness classes and more are expected with classes for the over 50's and over 60's and special pre and post natal classes.
