MORE than 60 gifts donated to Bradford Royal Infirmary's children's ward will help bring festive cheer to young patients this year.

Aid worker Nazim Ali from Manningham dropped off the toys at the weekend thanks to sponsorship from Shiraz Ahmed and Fairaz Ahmed who are Managing Directors of Bradford-based Saveco Cash & Carry.

This was Mr Ali's twelth toy drop at the hospital.

"As a child I spent a significant period in the hospital due to my struggle with TB and can empathise with what the children are going through," he said.

The toys included DVDs, play sets, sports equipment and cuddly toys.

Mr Ahmed added: "We are truly humbled to once more support the Toy Gifts Initiative started by Nazim who does so much to help others. Knowing so many children will be joyous and excited on Christmas Day upon receiving their presents fills myself and Shiraz with inner happiness and contentment. This initiative and the other charitable initiatives we support such as sponsoring soup kitchens, junior football teams and so forth is all part of our corporate social responsibility as a Bradford-based business to give back to society and is something Shiraz and I passionately believe in."

And Hayley Collis from Bradford Hospitals Charity said: "We are immensely grateful to Nazim and Saveco Cash & Carry for once more supporting our work as they have kindly done over the last five years."
