YOUNGSTERS are being sought to perform in the classic musical Oliver! this spring in Sutton.
The village’s Green Hut Theatre Company has this month begun rehearsals for Lionel Bart’s stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’s novel Oliver Twist.
Children aged eight and above are invited to join the cast to play workhouse orphans and members of Fagin’s pickpocketing gang.
They will be able to sing well-known songs like Got To Pick a Pocket Or Two, Consider Yourself, Food Glorious Food and Be Back Soon.
Chorus rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at the theatre company’s rehearsal facility, the green hut behind Costcutters on Main Street, Sutton.
Oliver! is the story of an orphan boy who escapes the workhouse for London, falling in with a gang of thieves before discovering the truth about his own family.
Anyone interested in taking part should call 07897 247733 or e-mail suttongreenhuttheatre@gmail.com or for more details. Adults are also welcome to join the chorus.
