It will no-longer be a surprise to you when you hear that some of your team members occasionally work from home. This way of working has been trending for some time now and a large proportion of individuals prefer it compared to working in a corporate office.

However, despite the comforts and ease of working from home, staff members can lose focus and motivation with their daily work activities, especially when working in isolation. For this reason, we thought it would be useful to look at some of the key ways we can remain positive and productive when working from home.

Tip 1: create an enchanting home office

There is nothing worse than having a work-space where you are simply reluctant to work. First and foremost,  ask yourself, do you have all the essential contemporary home office furniture and other components you need to make your working environment complete? This doesn’t just mean having a comfortable high-end executive chair and slick executive desk! In reality, you need to consider other factors too, such as personalising your workstation with desk items that are important to you such as family photos, pictures, plants, luxury fragrance sticks and other decorative elements which make you tick.

On a separate note, if you have a spacious study room and enough budget to enhance it further, then you might like to add an additional desk and office chairs for times when you invite other staff members around for team based projects.

Tip 2: compile a timetable and stick to it

Many of the staff members at Calibre when questioned think that being organised helps towards staying motivated and productive. The home office environment shouldn’t be any different to a corporate one in this respect. Perhaps, you could create a realistic daily timetable at the start of every workday, to include the periods when you’re at home, and try your best to stick to it in order to remain up-to-date with your work schedule. Ensuring you have organisational tools such as in-trays and out-trays will help your work flow too.

Tip 3: take frequent breaks

Lastly, it’s highly advisable for all types of office workers to take frequent breaks, not only for motivational purposes but also for health and well-being benefits too. If you enjoy keeping fit then you can perhaps even fit in a quick at-home workout session in between your work activities to keep your energy levels up. On the other hand, if you want to keep it light and simple, then grabbing some fresh air during your break will clear your head and help you refocus.

So there are our top tips on how to stay motivated when working from home. If you are new to the concept of homeworking, then we hope following our handy hints will provide you with a great starting point for keeping your spirits (and production levels) up high.
