THE Devonshire Arms Hotel and Spa at Bolton Abbey is officially the place for people who love their dogs after it won a pampered pet award.

The hotel was one of 14 winners across the country in the PetsPyjamas Dog Friendly Travel Awards - given out to visitor destinations who go out of their way for people with pets.

Other categories included best dog friendly pub and a best walkies award, and an award for the best dog-friendly destination in Europe.

Canines are treated like royalty at The Devonshire Arms with a pet concierge at reception and blankets, bedding, bowls, spare leads and doggie four-poster bed in their room.

And after a long walk in the dales, dogs have their own outside washing station before returning indoors.

Adam Dyke, the hotel's general manager, said: “We’re delighted to have won the prestigious Pampered Pet award from PetsPyjamas, joining the crème de la crème of pet-friendly properties, which include some of the finest hotels to be found in the British Isles. We love to pamper all of our guests, not least our four-legged friends, and make sure they are received with a warm welcome and every need catered for.”

He added: “A country hotel like ours, which enjoys open access onto the Yorkshire Dales, makes a stay here equally pleasurable to dogs and their owners, who love to make the most of our location. Our dog-welcoming ethos comes straight from The Duke and Duchess, who are themselves keen also dog lovers."

Co-founder of PetsPyjamas, Karen Hanton, said: “We’re thrilled to share and reward those properties that have particularly excelled this year with their own unique brand of dog-friendliness, and The Devonshire Arms Hotel and Spa are such deserved winners of the Pampered Pet award.”
