A 2018 charity calendar of special views around Skipton was so popular it went through two re-prints.

The Craven U3A publication, designed and produced by two members of the group who used their own photographs, notched up £544.

Sally Goodman and Roger French started their project at Easter last year and began selling copies from July at Craven U3A events. Many were bought by friends, but the majority of sales were to U3A members.

The calendar was sold out in October after two re-prints and the cash raised was split between Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) and Skipton & Craven Action for Disability (SCAD).

Roger said “We are grateful for the support of Craven U3A and the help of Jaymill Print in Skipton”.

The cheques have now been presented to the two charities and people who want more information about Craven U3A should go to the website: cravenu3a.co.uk

Craven’s University of the Third Age has over 900 members and offers a range of courses on recreational and educational subjects to retired and semi retired people.

Subjects covered spread from physical activities to more intellectual pursuits on all subjects. For example, people can study art and architecture or enjoy birdwatching and playing bridge.

Nigel Holden is exploring the life of the German prisoners of war who spent time at the Raikeswood camp during 1918 and 1919 in Skipton.
