EVEN Arctic weather conditions could not stop Cracoe villagers turning out to drink coffee, eat cake - and support a cancer charity.
A total of just over £750 was raised when the Friends of Cracoe Village Hall held a coffee morning in aid of Cancer Support Yorkshire. As well as various stalls to tempt villagers, a cake donated by The Devonshire Arms was sold slice by slice.
The charity’s community engagement officer Caroline Lewis said: “A wonderful time was had by all who attended and even the snow couldn’t keep them away - it was fantastic support, especially given the weather, and an absolutely marvellous total. We are very grateful to everyone who came along on the day. And I can also say that the bacon butties were to die for - quite superb!” She is pictured receiving a cheque from Jill Holden, left, and Tricia Linton, right.
