SETTLE College and Upper Wharfedale School have both been recognised nationally for their excellent results in 2017.

The schools were found to be among the best performing secondary schools in the country, receiving awards for being in the top 20 percentage of non-selective schools nationally for attainment and progress.

It is based on data from the Department of Education and Ofsted, analysed by SSAT, the Schools, Students and Teachers network.

The SSAT Educational Outcome database compares all state-funded schools in England, with the highest performing for a range of key measures.

Representatives from the schools will be presented with their awards in the summer term at a ceremony attended by winners from across the region.

Settle and Upper Wharfedale executive headteacher, Andrew Taylor, said: “We’re delighted that both Settle College and Upper Wharfedale School have been recognised in this way for the high achievement of our students, which is testimony to their hard work and commitment along with the dedication and support from staff and parents or carers.

“At both schools we aim to develop well-rounded young people who have a thirst for knowledge in a wide variety of subjects, including the Arts and other practical and vocational subjects. It is pleasing to see that the curriculum decisions we make allow for this success to be recognised.”

Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of SSAT said: “I am delighted that Settle College and Upper Wharfedale School have won these Educational Outcomes awards.

“This recognises an important aspect of the schools’ work, but as we know, there is much more to recognise in good school like these.

“SSAT is pleased to recognise the quality of leadership and the hard work of all staff to ensure the success of every child. A big thank you and well done to pupils, parents, staff and governors.”
