A FLEET-of-foot pupil of Cracoe and Rylstone Primary School led the race for honours in the Level 3 School Games Cross Country Finals for North Yorkshire schools.
Jacob Reeday, of Hetton, won the year 6 boys race to become the North Yorkshire County Champion at the finals, held in Dalby Forest.
He was representing Craven area schools after coming through qualifying rounds held at Upper Wharfedale School and Giggleswick School.
Jacob was greeted with cheers from his fellow pupils when he returned to school the following day with his medal.
His teacher Mrs Oral Gibbons said: "We are all so very proud of Jacob. He has a fantastic talent and will no doubt continue his running successes for many years to come.The children have been very excited to celebrate Jacob's achievement."
