THE VICAR of Dibley is returning to Sutton for another two nights of heavenly comedy set amidst the beautiful English countryside.

The village’s Green Hut Theatre Company is staging a sequel to its successful 2016 presentation of episodes from the TV sitcom.

First time round the amateur thespians portrayed the controversial arrival of the woman vicar in the village of Dibley and showed how she won over the hearts of residents.

The latest show, The Vicar of Dibley 2, is a stage adaptation of the final few episodes of Richard Curtis’s comedy classic in which the Rev Geraldine Granger finds true love.

Along the way there’s a real-life birth in a farmyard during the chaotic Dibley Nativity, and our heroine’s memorable wedding.

Green Hut decided to return to Dibley following the runaway success of the first instalment, recruiting much the same cast to play the wacky characters.

There’s Owen the rough-talking farmer, bossy lord-of-the-manor David, finicky council clerk Frank, no-no-no man Jim, and drippy couple Alice and Hugo.

Sutton’s Green Hut Theatre Company will stage its annual pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk in December at Sutton Village Hall.

The Vicar of Dibley 2 will be staged at Sutton Village Hall on Friday and Saturday, September 7 and 8, at 7.15pm.
