A YOUNG veterinary nurse who works in Skipton has been named as ‘student of the year’ at the college where she studying a ‘day release’ course.

Former Upper Wharfedale School pupil Ella Sievewright was described as “an outstanding student” by tutors on her course at Myerscough College in Lancashire, and has been given the ‘Improve International Award’.

The 18-year-old has been working at Ashlands Veterinary Centre in Skipton since leaving school two years ago.

Ella’s clinical coach at Ashlands Veterinary Centre, Amy Thornborrow, said: “Ella is really ambitious to succeed and works very hard so we made sure she was well supported through her exams.

“She is an excellent nurse, who is very practical and conscientious and gets along with everyone.”
