THE CO-OP has apologised for work taking place at its new look Three Peaks Filling Station in Ingleton before first getting planning permission.

Minor retrospective amendments to the £2.2 million redevelopment in New Road, the retention of a jet wash and reconfigured car parking spaces, were approved at last week’s Craven District Council Planning Committee meeting.

Ingleton Parish Council objected to the application, and while the highways authority raised no objection, it said parking spaces should be retained.

Councillors, who were recommended to approve the application, were told changes were marginal and did not represent a significant departure from the approved proposal and would also not result in any amenity issues.

The meeting heard that the petrol station and shop had proved very popular, with queues at times forming on the A65.

Chris Beebe, Co-op regional planning manager apologised to the committee for the retrospective nature of the application.

“I am sorry that the jet wash has been built, it is not the way we like to do things,” he told the committee.
