A PUB in Skipton which has re-opened after extensive refurbishment is holding a festival of food and drink which will raise cash for two charities.

The Railway, on Cavendish Street, is holding its 'Food and Fizz' event on Saturday, September 15, featuring speciality cocktails and live music from local acts Santa Sorbo, at 2.30pm, and Martin Conner at 8pm. The event will raise money for Manorlands hospice and the Alzheimer's Society.

Licensee Carol Boothman said: "Most people in Skipton know someone who has benefited from the vital work that Manorlands do for our local community, so it felt right to raise money for the hospice during the festival.

"My dad suffers from dementia and whilst caring for him my whole family has been extremely grateful for the work of the Alzheimer's Society. We'll be passing out donation buckets during the day and will divide all the money we raise between the charities equally.

"A special menu featuring cocktails and a large range of different fizzes will be served between noon and 10pm.

"The cocktails have been developed by the staff and include tipples such as Forget Me Not and Taste of the Tropics. The kitchen will be serving a special street-food inspired menu, with something for everyone."

The Fizz and Food Festival starts at noon and continues to 10pm.10pm. Food will be served noon-8.30pm. Cocktails will be 'three for two' between noon and 2pm.
