Rotary helps build youth leadership skills.

Three local students, Eleanor Everitt, Uwhar Amin, and Hudhaifa Amin shared their experiences and learning with Rotarians, parents and mentors at Skipton Golf club on 4th September and at the Tempest Arms on 19th September after their recent participation in a week-long leadership course run by RYLA at Hebden Bridge. Their photos and enthusiasm helped convey how exciting and challenging the event-filled week was.

Skipton Craven Rotary Club and Skipton Rotary Club sponsor places to attend this skills building course association run by Rotarians of Rotary Youth Leadership Association. The selection process for places identifies those keen and willing to learn and available at event times.

Each participant shared how they had built their confidence, team working, communication and leaderships skills. One focused on the different leadership models and their advantages and disadvantages. Eleanor detailed a lot of the activities. Uwar share his thoughts and feelings about joining and working from scratch with a group of people they had never met before. To help foster their own development each reflected on their performance and events each day. As in true life not all went to plan but there were plentiful experiences to be learnt from and much fun and enjoyment were had by all.
