SIR - On behalf of the Giggleswick Gardening Group we much appreciate the encouragement and supportive comments we receive from visitors to St Alkelda’s Church grounds (and other areas) when we volunteer there each week.

Also when we go out on our monthly litter picking sessions nearly everyone we meet makes positive comments such as “You are doing a grand job! “ Thank you, you are making such a difference!” “I am a visitor to the village and must say how neat and tidy and litter-free it is!” “I’m moving to Giggleswick soon and would like to join your group.” Such comments from walkers, cyclists, ‘thumbs-up’ and waves from motorists are so heartening to volunteers.

Anyone wishing to join us on the first Monday of each month will be most welcome. We meet at the Tems Bridge, Church Street, Giggleswick departing at 10am and returning before 12 noon. We normally ‘hunt in pairs’ and select one of the nine set routes; some are ‘walk out – litter pick back’, and others are circular. Litter-pickers, sacks and route plans are provided, we have a few high viz. jackets to lend out.

Very many thanks for your support from everyone who volunteers in whatever capacity.
