FIRST years at Carleton CE Primary School have taken control of their classroom after staging a 'Junior Apprentice' style competition.
Children in the mixed reception and year one class applied for jobs in the classroom, secured references and took part in interviews.
Their teacher, Amanda Roberts, said the children asked members of their families for references, and interviews for the positions were carried out by the school administrator and headteacher.
"We had some great responses to interview questions such as 'how would you like to be paid?, she said.
"Pupils and parents then attended a 'board room meeting' to view photos from the day and find out which jobs they had got - this has given class one pupils ownership in the classroom."
