POLICE are appealing for any witnesses after four people were taken to hospital after a crash near Kildwick last night.

It happened at approximately 8.40pm on the A629 carriageway just prior to the roundabout at Kildwick.

It involved a blue Vauxhall Corsa which was travelling towards Kildwick from Steeton.

The 20 year-old driver was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary. She is described as being in a stable condition.

The three passengers, also females, were taken to Airedale General Hospital by road ambulance.

Fire crews from Keighley and Bingley assisted police and paramedics at the scene.

"The car was about 20 feet from the road – in some trees," said Keighley Fire Station watch commander, Greg Pearce.

"All the casualties were out of the vehicle when we arrived.

"We gave medical assistance until the ambulance crews attended, and made the scene safe."

The trunk road was closed in both directions while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

Traffic Constable Mark Brook of the Roads Policing Group said:

“I would urge any witnesses to the incident or any person/s within vehicles in the vicinity, that may have been witness to the collision, to come forward to assist with the investigation.”
