A 49 YEAR old man from Lancaster has died after being struck by a train near Bentham Station.
British Transport Police confirmed the death which they said occurred around 11.30am today.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: "Officers were called at 11.30am today to the lines close to Bentham station, after reports of a person being struck by a train.
“Officers attended alongside paramedics, however a 49-year-old man, from Lancaster, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.
“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Officers were called at 11.30am today to the lines close to Bentham station, after reports of a person being struck by a train.
The railway line reopened at around 2pm.
