HORROR fans will be beating a path to Skipton Plaza Cinema on Friday (October 26) night for a special Halloween late night special showing of Night of the Living Dead.
A Skipton Film Club special, the late, great George Romero’s 1968 classic - celebrating its 50th birthday - is widely thought to be one of the greatest horror films ever made.
Night of the Living is the film that made Romero a hero with fright fans by introducing a new type of monster - the flesh eating zombie – existing as a mass of voracious, mindless killers, feeding off the population as they roam the American landscape.
Using a minimal budget Romero managed to create indelible images of horror that once seen will never be forgotten by the viewer. These images contribute to the films radical nature – a film that can also be seen as a critique of the society that has produced it. The beauty , it that is the right term, of Romero’s film is that it still manages to scare and thrill any audience that sees it – renewing its classic status on every viewing.
Members and non members will be welcome, from 10.45pm on October 26 - scary fancy dress welcome.
