THE early 1970s was a bit of a golden sporting age for Cononley Cricket Club, as its players picked up plenty of trophies and championships in the Craven and District League.

Skipton-based journalist Robin Moule, who sent us the picture and is one of the players featured, says it was a period when the club dominated in both cup and league competitions.

Pictured here are the members of club’s first team, who had just won the Wynn Cup in 1972.

Robin has also recalled the names of his team-mates.

They are, back row, from left:

Selwyn Dewhurst, Trevor ‘Nobby’ Clarke, Gordon Nelson, Dave Parker, John Toothill, Robin Moule, Brian Smith-Goode.

Front row, from left, Rex Phillips, Tim Moule, Ralph Straker, Jack Moule, Brian Nelson, Philip Scarr.
