A SERVICE which helps vulnerable people in need of urgent mental health support has won a coveted accolade.

Haven – which operates across Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven – was among the winners at the National Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards.

It took gold in the crisis and acute care category.

Haven, based at the Cellar Trust, was launched just over two years ago.

The trust’s chief executive officer, Kim Shutler-Jones (pictured), said she was delighted with the award.

“The National Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards celebrate the achievements and contributions of services across the country,” she added.

“We are thrilled that a local charity like ours has received this recognition, but key to our success is that this is delivered in partnership with Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust and Bradford Council.”

Brent Kilmurray, the care trust’s chief executive, said: “The awards set an extremely high standard so to win is a huge credit to all involved.”

Haven is available seven days a week and can be accessed by calling 01274 221181.
