AN acclaimed singer of classic wartime melodies is returning to Silsden by popular demand.

Last year, Kitty LaMare gave a sell-out performance during the first 1940s dance organised by the Friends of Silsden Town Hall.

She is back at the same venue on Saturday, November 17, to entertain at the second dance.

And Kitty will again be accompanied by Silsden barber Jeff Walbank, in his role as nostalgic disc jockey Company B.

"What a team they are – and what a memorable evening they gave us last time," said Ray Colling, chairman of the Friends.

"The great thing is that you don't necessarily have to be a dancer to enjoy their music. You can just come along to soak up the terrific atmosphere."

The hall will be decorated on a 1940s theme and there will be a bar and light refreshments, including the visit of a US-style ice-cream salesman.

Tickets are available, priced £10, from Twiggs newsagents in Kirkgate.
