WALKING for health and free massages for those caring for others are part of a special ‘self care’ week being run from Monday by Skipton’s Dyneley House Surgery.

The event, which runs until Saturday, November 17 with Skipton Park Run, at Aireville Park, is part of the Newmarket Street surgery’s attempt to help people to feel more confident to manage their own health and well being. It will also show them how to get access and support if they need it.

O n Monday, there will be a beginners walking group, starting from the Canal Basin at 1.45pm and in the evening, at the surgery’s Dyneley Barn, an introduction to Craven Leisure’s free 12 week healthy lifestyles course.

On Tuesday, there will be guidance and support for young families, and learning how to deal with basic medical problems, and on Wednesday, a pamper session for carers.

A meeting of the patient participation group will take place on Wednesday, and on Thursday, there will be a meeting of dementia friends. Also on Thursday will be a regular meeting of the ‘sporting memories group’.

Creative arts for mental wellbeing will take place on Friday, led by Bentham based Pioneer Projects, and on Saturday, people are encouraged to take part in the weekly Skipton Park Run, held at Aireville Park.
