A PARTY of walkers from the Ramgarhia Gurdwara Sikh community of Bradford, paid a visit to Upper Wharfedale with members of Friends of DalesBus.

They used a specially chartered DalesBus vehicle to test out the feasibility of running a weekly direct service from Bradford to Bolton Abbey, Burnsall and Grassington on Saturdays in the spring and summer of next year.

Members of the Ramgarhia Gurdwara are working in partnership with Friends of the Dales, Friends of DalesBus and the Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company to seek ways of funding the popular service to give a new direct bus from Bradford and Shipley to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

If the group is successful with funding and sponsorship, it is hoped the service will start in April.

Colin Speakman, vice chairman of Friends of DalesBus, said: "We are hoping this will be the start of an exciting partnership between communities in Bradford, DalesBus and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, using the DalesBus network to enable people from all backgrounds to access

the national park."

Businesses and organisations are also being asked to offer their support – anyone interested in helping support the service is asked to contact friendsofdalesbuschair@gmail.com.
