TIME is running out to book a place at a 'creative connections' conference due to take place at Broughton Hall, Skipton next week.

The two day conference - part of the lottery funded Great Place: Lakes and Dales project , which is seeking to attract younger people to live and work in the Dales, will include speakers such as designer, Wayne Hemingway, and round the world cyclist and adventurer Alastair Humphreys.

A highlight of the event will be the unveiling of results from the project's research into understanding and ascertaining the perceptions of younger people towards living and working in the Dales.

There will also be performances and exhibitions from young artists, and activities covering a range of wellbeing and creative interests.

Delegates will also be able to find out first hand about an exciting new 'seedfunding' scheme going live. Applications for the first round open at the conference and close in January.

Up to £10,000 will be available to help emerging talent, start-up businesses and collaborative projects try-out and pilot new innovative work which contributes to delivering and enhancing the cultural offer and economy for younger people in the area covered by the project

Lindsey Hebden, programme manager, said: “Creative Connections is an opportunity to share ideas and help shape GPLD’s work over the next 18 months. The conference will have a creative and positive atmosphere and the speakers will be inspirational and informative. Delegates can take part in a range of wellness and health activities at no extra cost and enjoy performances from local artists.”

Creative Connections will be held at Avalon, the newly opened wellbeing centre at the Broughton Hall estate, next week, on Thursday, November 22, and on Friday, November 23. Bookings for places, which are free, close on Friday. To book a place, visit: bit.ly/GPLDCreativeConnections
