LIMESTONE View extra care, in Settle, has been honoured at an awards ceremony at The National Railway Museum, in York.

The care team was the proud winner of this year's Palliative Care/End of Life award in the Great Yorkshire and Humber Care Awards.

Each year, the nine regions across the UK each nominate care teams and individuals for awards in a range of categories.

The awards are for those who provide social and specialist care to those who need it, whether it be in their own homes or in residential care homes.

The purpose is to promote and share best practice and to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

Limestone View care team is run by Housing and Care 21, a provider of retirement and extra care housing.

Under the leadership of manager Karina Lewis, the Limestone View care team received a coveted “Outstanding” grade in the category of "care provision" by the Care Quality Commission in their 2017 inspection.

The Judge's comment was “An extremely well presented candidate whose team goes above and beyond in supporting each other, families and the service users."

The team now goes through to the national finals at Birmingham's International Convention Centre, on March 8.
