SKIPTON Community Orchestra will stage a free Christmas concert at Holy Trinity Church, Skipton, at 2pm on Sunday, December 9.

The programme will include excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite along with festive favourites such as Sleigh Ride, Fairy Tale of New York and Carol of the Bells.

The orchestra is well-known for its family-friendly performances and there will be plenty of opportunities for children to get involved with percussion instruments.

This year, the orchestra will also be joined by children from Skipton based children's charity SELFA, who will be singing carols.

The orchestra, which was set up in 2012, welcomes musicians of all ages and abilities, its current members range in ages from 12 to 70 years old.

The orchestra rehearses on the second and last Tuesday of every month in the Holy Trinity Church Vestry Rooms at 7.30pm and is always very happy to see new faces.
