STUDENTS and staff on Craven College’s ‘equine’ course jumped at the chance to have a riding lesson from equestrian Olympic silver medallist Jeanette Brakewell.
Students and staff made the most of one-to-one lessons in a ‘jumping clinic’ with the elite rider, on both college horses and their personal horses.
Lessons involved initial assessment and ‘flat work,’ followed by pole work, gymnastic and course riding exercises, tailored to suit individual needs of horses and riders.
Jeanette has represented Great Britain many times as a part of the Eventing team, winning four European team gold medals, two Olympic team silver medals and one World bronze team medal.
In 2002 she was the individual silver medalist at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez.
Joanna Baxter, equine centre manager, said: “These clinics are invaluable to the students as the have the opportunity to receive excellent tuition from the very best in the industry.
“ They can get valuable information about equine career pathways and employment opportunities.”
