PEOPLE across the Keighley district are being urged to recycle their Christmas waste.

Bradford Council says its household waste recycling centres will be closed for just three days over the festive period – Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

There will be some changes to household bin collection days.

Bins scheduled to be emptied on Christmas Day will instead be collected on Saturday, December 22.

If your collection day is due on Boxing Day, the round has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 29.

And collections due on New Year's Day will now take place on Saturday, January 5.

All other collection days will be unchanged.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council's executive member for healthy people and places, said: "We hope everyone has a great time this Christmas but we want to remind people to keep recycling.

"The amount of waste generated can jump by as much as one-third during the festive period so it’s really important to recycle as much as possible."

In South Craven, there are several changes to collection days.

Householders whose bins are normally emptied between Tuesday and Friday will all have rescheduled rounds.
