ONE of Skipton’s longest-standing independent firms has been celebrating 100 years in business in 2018.
Howcroft’s Funeral Services, on Duckett Street, is still run by the family of the man who founded it - Tom Howcroft, who was a cabinet-maker before serving his country in World War One. Two of his three sons eventually joining the business. In 1958 the Howcrofts building burned to the ground, but a new building was erected with the addition of a consecrated chapel of rest, making it the most up to date funeral service in the district.
The newest member of the team is fifth-generation Natalie Dunn, 32, who recently passed her diploma in funeral arranging and administration, while her 24-year-old sister Lucy has recently rejoined the company.
Natalie said: “We are proud to be the longest- established funeral directors in Skipton and the surrounding areas - and we are delighted to be celebrating 100 years of serving the community.”
