A NEW support group, Breast Friends, has been set up in Skipton for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer.

Organised by Cancer Support Yorkshire, the support group will meet on the third Wedneday of every month during the day at the charity’s Skipton centre, in Otley Street - opposite the court buildings.

The two hour sessions, from 10am to 12 midday, will offer support and information to anyone who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and who would welcome support from others similarly diagnosed.

There will also be refreshments, workshops and a friendly space on offer.

Centre manager Debi Hawkins said: “Anyone who is newly diagnosed with any cancer can be overwhelmed by it and they tell us they don’t know where to turn. This new group is an ideal place to come to as it offers support of our trained staff, counselling, therapies, relaxation and lots more, to help people as they go through those initial stages of their diagnosis and treatment.”

The next session will take place on Wednesday, January 16. To find out more, contact Debi on 01756 228088 or 007753 227 892 or email d.hawkins@csyorkshire.org.uk
