THE Upper Wharfedale Arts and Literature Society will launch ‘Presenting the Past’ at Kilnsey with Conistone Hall on Saturday, January 26.
Funded by the Heritage Lottery, it is a multi- faceted project built around an archive of late 19th and early 20th century photographs taken by Percy Inman and loaned to the society by Matthew Roberts, of Kettlewell.
Mike Stephenson, chairman of the society, said: “Anyone with an interest in photography, music, art, creative writing, research, or the history of their community will find something to engage them in this project. We hope it will appeal to young and old alike.”
Thanks to the lottery grant, the society has provided training in photography and the collection of oral histories.
“We aim to create a contemporary archive of music, art and writing as well as presenting the Inman photographs to the public in all their glory, “ said Mr Stephenson.
An exhibition will take place next year. Anyone interested should go along between 10am and 3pm on January 26.
