VENUE Sports and Music Bar in Skipton, raised almost £5,000 for children’s cancer charity, Candlelighters.
The bar, in Cavendish Street, decided to do what it could for the charity in support of five-year-old Maddie Jameson, from Skipton, who was diagnosed with leukaemia last year.
She has been receiving treatment at Leeds Children’s Hospital, and throughout, her family has been supported by the Candlelighters charity.
Venue staged a coffee morning and other fundraisers, totalling an impressive £4,915 - well exceeding its target of £1,000.
“Candlelighters have been a huge support to Maddie and the Jameson and Hodgkiss family,” said the Venue’s Leah Pompey.
“We were astonished by the support we received from both local businesses and residents alike. Everyone wanted to do their bit - from donating raffle and tombola prizes, to baking cakes and the many volunteers we had on the day.”
Gina Trotter, from Candlelighters said “The fundraising by Venue has been incredible. To raise so much from a single event is absolutely fantastic and will make such a positive difference to the children and families supported by Candlelighters. There is such a great community in Skipton and we are so grateful for everyone’s support.”
