A SEVEN-year-old Keighley girl will tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise money for Mind and Shelter.

Freyja Rhodes plans to complete the challenge over three days and camp overnight between each climb.

She has already raised more than £460 towards her £500 target through donations to her charity page, but she aims to continue raising money before setting off on a trek during the school summer holidays.

Freyja’s mother Lotty said her daughter had you wanted to raise money for charity since a young age.

She said: “After a trip to Leeds when she was five and witnessing the amount of homeless people on the streets, Freyja was deeply affected and asked if she could do something to help.

“She made food parcels and distributed them, but she wanted to do more. On first sight of snow when other children get excited, her reaction was ‘what about the homeless people?’.

Freyja is a keen walker who has already completed Pen-y-Ghent, and afterwards said she wanted to climb Whernside and Ingleborough.

Talking to her mother, she learned how other people have raised money for charity climbing the Three Peaks, and decided to follow in their footsteps.

Lotty said: “At the age of seven years old she will not be completing the expedition in one day, but over the course of three days, camping in between.

“She will walk more than 20 miles, an amazing challenge the seven-year-old, and will be making vlogs along the way. She has already nearly met her target of £500, with seven months to go.

“Her aim is to smash this target out of the water and raise money for the thousands of homeless people and people struggling with mental illness every year to help those in our country who are vulnerable and in desperate need of help.”

“Mind and Shelter are both amazing charities that work relentlessly to help people in need, and need donations in order to help so many people suffering every single day.
