THE hunt is on for premises to set up a community support group ‘Men’s Shed’ in Grassington.

Part of the Grassington Hub, keen interest has already been shown for the setting up of a ‘shed’ - which aims to provide men with a place to socialise, to share skills and to help others.

Grassington supporter, Andrew Jackson, said the aim was to set up a place where men could meet up, socialise, and undertake practical work together.

“Based on the principle that “women talk face to face but men talk shoulder to shoulder”, the concept has spread swiftly internationally, and is proving a very successful way of giving men a social outlet. This has been shown to dramatically improve their mental and physical wellbeing, and already there has been a lot of interest shown locally,” he said.

Now, all that is needed is somewhere to set up. “We are looking for suitable premises to rent, or even a patch of land that they can place a temporary building on with access to water and electricity. It’s a great community project and it could make a big difference to the village, and could earn the owner some money, or we could rally round and renovate it for them.” Anyone able to help can contact Andrew on 07746 765917, or email: andrewjackson2@gmail.com.
