IT MAY be more than three decades since rock legend Phil Lynott passed on to play the great gig in the sky - but for the last quarter of a century one band in particular has worked hard to keep the memory of the Thin Lizzy frontman alive.

And Limehouse Lizzy, themselves celebrating their 25th anniversary with their current tour, will be bringing the rock-with-Celtic-overtones sounds of the much-loved Thin Lizzy to Settle’s Victoria Hall on Friday, February 1.

Long regarded by fans of the Irish supergroup as keeping the flame alive, Limehouse Lizzy have also recently added a tribute to the late Gary Moore, guitarist in various Lizzy incarnations in the 1970s and 80s, and who died in 2011.

Tickets are £15.

Thin Lizzy fans also have another reason to celebrate, as the band’s original lead guitarist Eric Bell brings his trio to the Victoria Hall on Thursday, March 14. Bell cut his teeth in the 1960s playing with Belfast blues legends Them, the band that launched the superstar career of Van Morrison, and went on to play in the band of Jimi Hendrix Experience bassist Noel Redding after leaving Lizzy. He has been leading his own band for several decades. Tickets are £16.

Meanwhile, in the world of folk and folk-rock, the hall plays host to highly-regarded trio Iota, which feature seasoned performers Sally Barker, Anna Ryder and Marion Fleetwood,

Sally was a founder member of all-female folk group The Poozies, and found further fame with a mainstream TV audience when she sang to millions as Welsh superstar Tom Jones’ finalist on ‘The Voice UK’ in 2014. As a solo artist she has supported massive names such as Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Richard Thompson. Anna Ryder is an original and inventive singer-songwriter with a musical style that, although based in folk, spans an array of genres, ans she has has worked with Fairport Convention, Eddi Reader, Julianne Regan of All About Eve.

With a voice which has been described as ‘mesmerising’ and ‘siren-esque’, Marion Fleetwood on vocal, violin, viola, cello, guitars and percussion, is a highly respected multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, and, not surprisingly, very busy session musician!

Tickets are £14.50.

On Sunday, February 3, Chris Bannister brings his show ‘A Tribute to the Music of John Denver’, which as well as featuring the songs of the late lamented country great, also showcases Chris’s own songs as well as covers of much-loved classics and undiscovered folk songs.

Chris has been lauded for his uncanny ability to recreate the sound of John Denver, so much so that Chris now has an international reputation and it is no surprise to learn that he regularly performs in Aspen, Colorado, where John Denver lived for many year, to sell-out audiences. Tickets are £14.50.
