THE Octagon Theatre in Grassington Town Hall has been chosen as one of two venues in the North of England to host a top-class professional production of “Dear Lupin”.

This adaptation of the funny and touching exchanges of letters between a very English gentleman and his dissipated son has been performed in the West End, serialised on Radio 4, and been staged in many different tours.

This production is brilliantly performed by two well-known actors: Michael Cochrane and Robert Portal. Between them, they clock up an impressive list of acting achievements and both of them have connections with this area. They are greatly looking forward to visiting Grassington again.

The author, Roger Mortimer, was a well known racing correspondent for the Sunday Times and the BBC, an author, and had a record of distinguished military service. His son Charlie was a drifter and got himself into all sorts of difficulties. These letters reflect an English father’s despair, tolerance and love for him.

By turns hilarious and touching, this play with have you laughing out loud, but you’ll cry as well.

Definitely not to be missed, the performance is at the Octagon Theatre in Grassington on Sunday 17th March 17 at 7.30pm. All tickets are £11.50, on sale at Grassington Hub or online at: grassingtondevonshireinstitute.org .
