A ROAD in Embsay remained closed for almost four hours yesterday (Tuesday) after a double-decker bus collided with a railway bridge.
There were no passengers on the bus at the time, and the road reopened at 7.30pm after debris was cleared from the highway.
North Yorkshire County Council highways area manager James Malcolm said: “We attended the scene after a report that a double decker bus had collided with a railway bridge. The road was closed and a diversion put in place. When the bus had been moved we assisted with clearing the debris and once Network Rail had checked the bridge the road was reopened at around 7.30pm.’’
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said yesterday: "We received a report just after 4pm that a double decker bus had collided with a railway bridge in Embsay, near Skipton.
"No passengers were on the bus and there are not believed to be any injuries, however, the ambulance is at the scene."
