SETTLE Parish Church is inviting people to go along and sing Handel in the 260th year of his death.

The event will include the favourite 'Zadock the Priest', but also the largely neglected 'Foundling Hospital Anthem' (which contains the Halleluia Chorus).

There will also be some other oratorio extracts and the day will conclude with a short performance of music from the day which will be open to the public.

The day will be led by Tim Knight, the award-winning Yorkshire composer and conductor.

Th timetable is: registration and coffee 9.45am to 10.15am; rehearsal session one between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

There will then be a lunch break until 2pm before rehearsal session two takes place between 2.15pm and 4.15pm.

After a short tea time break the concert takes place from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Singers' tickets include all music and teas and coffees in the breaks, but not lunch or food before the concert, but there are plenty of places in Settle to eat. There may be catering in the church, or singers can provide their own meals.

There is a limited capacity for 80 singers.

Prices are £15 for singers and £5 for audience members.
