A NEW support group for anyone living with a stoma following a colo-rectal cancer diagnosis, or with a diagnosis of colo-rectal cancer,  is being set up by Cancer Support Yorkshire ‘s Skipton centre.

Those attending meetings will be able to access a range of support, see new product demonstrations and attend a short talk. There will also be refreshments, and the chance to talk to other people in similar situations.

Centre Manager Debi Hawkins said: “Anyone who is diagnosed with any cancer can be overwhelmed by it and they tell us they don’t know where to turn. There are a number of issues that are faced by people who have a stoma fitted which can result in confidence issues and having to adapt to a massive change in lifestyle. This new support session set up specifically for people with Stoma as a result of cancer, is an ideal place to come to as it offers practical support of trained staff, along with up to the minute information and guidance”. The first of three meetings this year will take place on Friday, March 8 at The Three Links Club, Rectory Lane, between 10am to 12.30pm. Others will take place on June 14 and on November 8.
