THE Skipton branch of the Royal British Legion has been presented with the Alderson House Cup for Administration.

The criteria for the award is the submission of annual reports, the standard of completion of the returns, branches complying with the management handbook, communication with the county office, and the promotion and taking forward of new initiatives.

George Martin, vice-chairman of the Skipton branch said: "It is a very prestigious award and the Skipton branch is very proud to have been awarded it."

The Skipton branch of the RBL is a vibrant and active body of volunteers who are instrumental in its success.

Members meet on the first Friday of each month at the Three Links Club, Rectory Lane, Skipton, at 7.30pm.

New members are always welcome of all ages whether they have served in the armed forces or not.

The RBL provides financial, social and emotional care and support to all members of the British Armed Forces - past and present and their families. The Legion is also the national custodian of remembrance and safeguards the military covenant between the nation and its armed corces and is best known for the annual Poppy Appeal and its emblem the red poppy.
