A DETACHED house and garage has been given permission to be built despite concerns of overdevelopment of the site.

The application was brought before Craven District Council’s planning committee on Monday and relates to an area of land to the north of 55 Green Lane, Glusburn.

It had been referred to committee by ward councillor Philip Barrett.

Members were told the application was in outline with matters relating to access, layout and scale being the subject of the plans. Details relating to appearance and landscaping are reserved for future approval.

The proposed house will measure approximately 10 metres wide and almost nine metres deep and be 7.8 metre to the ridge.

The detached garage will be to the front.

The existing house and the proposed house would share the existing access and the detached garage currently used by number 55 will be demolished and two parking spaces created in its place.

Six letters of representation had been received. They cited an increase in traffic would add to the already busy Green Lane, inadequate parking was being provided on site, there would be a loss of light and loss of privacy and it would have an overbearing impact on the house to the north.

Members voted in favour of the plans which had been recommended for approval.

Conditions state an application for reserved matters must be made no later than three years from the approval date.
