THE World Day of Prayer will be celebrated in Skipton on Friday, March 1 at Holy Trinity Church, at the top of the High Street.
The service for this year is called ‘Come – everything is ready!’ and has been prepared by Christian women of Slovenia, one of the smallest and youngest countries in Europe.
It features the voices of some of those coming to the table - wives, mothers and grandmothers, Roma people, refugees and migrant workers. Their stories reflect the political and economic situation of Slovenia from the time it was a socialist-communist state to the present day. Those attending the service will be invited to reflect on the barriers they have faced, to hear of the challenges they have met and the hopes they have for the future. The service, on March 1 will take place at 2pm, all are welcome to take part in the global, ecumenical day of prayer.
