CO-OP stores have given a bumper boost to Manorlands.

A £17,475 cheque has been presented to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

The cash was coined-in by staff and customers at around 20 stores in Manorlands' patient catchment area, including Keighley, Craven, Ilkley and Bradford.

Fundraising activities included bake sales, raffles, a softball sports day and a national Three Peaks challenge, which was completed by five branch managers.

Harriet Wood, a community fundraiser at the hospice, pays tribute to all those involved.

"To have had the opportunity to work with so many local Co-op stores – which really know and understand the value of our work – has been a great experience," she said.

"Both the staff and customers have been so generous with their time and money, enabling us to accept this tremendous donation that will allow us to be there for people when it matters most."

Marie McCool, manager at Wilsden Co-op, said: "Connecting communities and bringing people together is at the heart of what we do.

"We are really grateful for the generous support from our members, customers and many colleagues from stores throughout the region who were moved to find ways to show that they cared and make a difference to the patients in the hospice.

"It is amazing what we can achieve when we work together and every donation, no matter how small, will add up to make a big difference."
