SIR - Mr Nicholson has exhorted the principle of gaining our sovereignty and freedom (Craven Herald letters, January 19 and February 14) after leaving the EU. Can Mr Nicholson give a specific example of where we have lost or had our sovereignty subsumed by the EU? And what has the EU done to reduce our freedom? Or if he prefers what would be the first EU law imposed on us by the EU that Mr Nicholson would seek to revoke? I struggle to think of anything.

And, Mr Glyn Edwards (Craven Herald letters, February 7) is wrong to say the EU accounts have not been signed off “in many a year”. They have been signed off as "Fair and Accurate" every year since 2007. Depends what you mean by "signed off"(source: fullfact.org).
