PROUD pupils, teachers and staff at Gisburn Primary School have been celebrating after inspectors rated the school ‘outstanding’ in all five Ofsted assessment areas.
They praised pupils’ quality of work and their attitude to learning, as well as the quality of teaching, which they said led to”highly effective lessons that motivate and inspire pupils.”
The efforts of new headteacher Lisa McCloskey were also highlighted, with inspectors saying: “She has made enhancements to the school’s exciting curriculum and has enabled the quality of teaching to improve from good to outstanding.”
Mrs McCloskey said: “I am hugely thankful for our amazing children, our dedicated and professional staff and the support of our governing body.
“We strive to make every day a fantastic learning experience for our pupils, and we are very proud to have been recognised in this way. Pupils who spoke to inspectors came across as being very confident, articulate and, most importantly, happy learners.”
The inspectors also highlighted the quality of the school’s early years teaching, saying that “children have access to a well-organised and creative learning environment that ignites their innate curiosity,” and that all pupils took great pride in the school.
