A brand new sports shop offering customers huge discounts on genuine branded clothing, footwear, equipment and accessories is opening its doors next week in Skipton.

The launch is going to be kick-started with a heavily discounted flash sale on Facebook tonight to give customers a taste of the quality products they can expect at bargain prices.

Discount Sports, run by husband and wife team Tony and Ruth Eidsforth, is located in the former mill shop, on Rope Walk, behind Bizzie Lizzie’s town centre restaurant and adjacent to the busy high street car park.

“It’s the perfect place for the store. It’s easily accessible in the centre of town near popular shops and large a car park,” said Ruth.

“What’s more the entrance is level so there is access for wheelchairs and pushchairs without having to negotiate difficult steps,” she added.

The couple have several decades of retail experience between them. Tony and Ruth have had a number of pop up sports shops across the North West with Skipton being their first permanent site.

Tony, from Manchester, has 30 years’ experience in the sports wholesale trade as well as in retail while Ruth, who started her career at HML, in Skipton, has spent the last 10 years in the sports retail industry.

They both possess a wealth of knowledge about the industry and are happy to help you find what you are looking for.

For Ruth she feels she is back to her roots.

“I always wanted to get back to this area where my family are and we moved to Silsden in December.

“We are thrilled with how the mill shop is coming along. We only got the keys three weeks ago and with help from our family we are nearly ready to open.

“We can’t wait to open and show Skipton what we are all about,” she said.

“We are certain we can offer customers a rewarding shopping experience and those who remember the former shop will be amazed at how light it is now after we uncovered all the windows,” Ruth added.

Shoppers looking for top brands have a choice of around 10,000 items at any one time with brand new stock being brought in each week.

“We are keen to let people know we only sell the genuine branded article, but at a massive discount of up to 80 per cent off so you can save a lot of money on top quality merchandise,” said Tony.

The retail space is huge and the choices on offer are extensive for women, men and children in a whole range of sizes.

With health and fitness being buzz words across all ages these days, the couple feel it is adding to the opportunity for residents to stock up on sporting clothing and fashion at prices everyone can afford.

“We really feel we are bringing choice to Skipton which is what people want and the range and choices we have are vast,” Ruth added.

People can browse at their leisure among the spacious rails. There is also a changing room to make sure of that perfect fit.

The store will be offering gift vouchers which make ideal gifts and will be open initially Wednesday to Saturday.

The doors will open on Friday, March 22, at 9am.

In the meantime, get into the shopping experience with a flash sale tonight, Thursday, on the Discount Sports Skipton Facebook page between 7pm and 9pm.
