A CARE home welcomed two more-unusual visitors.

Therapy alpacas Sovereign and Pumpkin called at Summerfield, in Silsden.

Residents had the chance to stroke and feed the duo, from Oxenhope-based Thornwood Alpacas.

“The alpacas wandered around the home and brought lots of smiles to our residents’ faces,” said Louise Pennington, activity co-ordinator at Summerfield. “It was great fun.

“We also learned about how the alpacas live and what they eat, which was very interesting.”

The visit was funded with money raised by a residents’ sponsored pedal

Nearly 20 people – with an average age of 93 – took part in the event.

The aim was to keep pedalling, to music, for an hour. They used an exercise bike, or stationary or hand pedals.
